soar

it’s her own fault. she put him there, up on that pedestal. the same pedestal he uses to climb up so he can look down on her. to yell at her. to make her feel like a child. she feels defenseless and worthless. and it’s her own fault, building him up that way. giving him that position. backing down to allow him to rule over everything. constantly asking permission. saying she’s sorry. hoping. wanting. feeling hollow inside. so, why after all this time does she still hold her breath and take the brunt of it? she said she was done. she said she wouldn’t be that girl anymore. she’s not going to sit back and allow him to take control of every single fucking situation. she will fight back. she will rise up. she will soar. she will drift above the clouds and say, “look at me. I’m flying. without you.”
